Variation in gene expression no doubt contributes to diversity and evolution of phenotype.In this study,we explored the expression present and absence variation (ePAV) by RNA sequencing the kernels of 15 DAP (days after pollination) from 368maize inbred lines.By filtering the genes showing no expression in more than 19inbred lines and expressing in less than 348 inbred lines (5%<MAF<95%),13,382nuclear ePAV genes were obtained.And we found these ePAV genes preferred to be regulated by distant eQTLs when compared with non-ePAV genes (or called core expression genes,expressed in more than 95 %lines,80 %VS 33%,P < 2.2E-6).
