We have been working on the π-allylnickel-catalyzed coordination polymerization of allene derivatives, in which monomers having both nonpolar and polar substituents can be polymerized in a living fashion in both aprotic and protic media.Well-defined polymer particles with narrowly dispersed diameter distribution can be produced under the dispersion polymerization conditions.We wish to describe herein the precision synthesis and applications of well-defined functional polymer particles by the sequential living dispersion copolymerization.For example, the post-copolymerization of bifunctional allenes and then functional allenes gives surface functionalized cross-linked polymer particles that are applicable to the solid phase organic synthesis (Scheme 1).
