在爱尔兰文学传统的系谱上,贝克特的地位一直晦暗不明。本文从分析贝克特与爱尔兰正统文化的代表叶芝之间复杂的纠葛入手,探寻其隐秘的文学关联,以期对贝克特作品的爱尔兰性做出认定。文章分三部分,第一部分叙述贝克特早年对叶芝的叛逆与逃离,第二部分梳理成熟时期的贝克特对于叶芝的认同与回应,第三部分以贝克特晚期作品《但,那些云……》为例说明在戏剧领域贝克特对叶芝的承继与发展。叶芝为爱尔兰打造屹立世界的诗意戏剧的理想,恰恰由一度在艺术上叛逆他的贝克特承继和发扬光大。
Beckett’s status has always been obscure in the pedigree of the Irish literary tradition. This article starts from analyzing the complicated disputes between Beckett and Yeats, the representative of the Irish Orthodox Culture, and explores its hidden literary relevance with a view to making an affirmation of Berthold’s Irishness. The article is divided into three parts, the first part describes Beckett’s rebellion against Escherichia and Escaped in the early years. The second part reviews Beckett’s recognition and response to Yeats in the mature period. The third part is based on Beckett’s late works “But those ... ... ”as an example to illustrate Becket’s succession and development of Yeats in theater. Yeats’s vision of creating a poetic drama of a standing world for Ireland is exactly inherited and carried forward by Beckett, who once rebelled him in art.
