Liangzhu culture which is about 5300-4100 years ago is the archaeological culture of Taihu Lake and the lower reaches of the Yangtze River. In order to trace the source of Chinese civilization,it s necessary to research the Liangzhu culture. The article collected multisource data including the aerial photographs, satellite photos, old topographic maps and the documentations about the climate and hydrography. The article researched the spatial distribution and density distribution features of Liangzhu culture sites around Taihu Basin by spatial analytical methods and detected the major environment changes around Mojiaoshan using the information extraction. The function and regional status of Mojiaoshan City was confirmed by analyzing the site visibility.According to the article, the choice of the location of sites has common significant features.According to the vague traces in the old aerial photographs and historical documents, the Dongtiaoxi divert from east-west to the north direction. And this change was related to the ground subsidence of Taihu Basin and the high tide of the Qiantang River. This might contribute to the disappearance of Liangzhu culture.Instead of traditional methods of archaeology, this paper employed multi-discipline research methods, and made macro analysis and in-depth explanation about the Liangzhu culture and Mojiaoshan Ancient city which combined archaeology, history, remote sensing and GIS.
