The incidence of fungal infections has increased dramatically in recent years.The triazoles antifungal agents which act by inhibiting cytochrome P450 now became the most rapidly expanding group of antifungal compounds.However,their clinical value has been limited by their relatively high risk of toxicity,the emergence of drug resistance,pharmacokinetic deficiencies and insufficiencies in their antifungal activities.Thus,these trends have emphasized the urgent need for more effective and safe antifungal agents with novel mechanism of action.We have earlier reported that thiochromanones were found to be a kind of antifungal agent of genuinely broad-spectrum and low-toxicity.
