  Lignocellulosic biomass(LB),the most abundantly available raw material on the Earth,can be produced for cellulosic ethanol(CE),which has drawn a worldwide interest in recently years.In the process of conversion of LB to CE,the hydrolysis of sugar based materials(cellulose and hemicellulose)to reducing sugars is the key point.Wherein,the enzymatic hydrolysis(EH)of these materials is considered to be an effect and sustainable method to fulfill the task.The cellulase,a suite of enzymes,catalyzes cellulolysis,which is the source of reducing sugars in the EH of cellulose.The enzyme measured by the filter paper activity(FPA)coupled with the one measured by the β-glucosidase activity(β-GA)plays the primary role in the EH of cellulose.However,the efficiency of EH is not very high,which is due to the complexity of EH process and the inadequate of cellulase families produced by single microorganism.Improving the cellulase mixtures(mainly the FPA cellulase and β-GA cellulase)is an effective way to improve the EH efficiency.
