DHCR24 encodes 3-hydroxysteroid-△ 24 reductase,which converts desmosterol tocholesterol.In recent years,it is demonstrated that DHCR24 has the ability of anti-apoptotic induced by oxidative stress or endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress as a Reactive oxygen Species (ROS) scavenger,for which it needs its FAD-binding domain.Our previous studies showed that DHCR24 is an transmembrane protein which is mainly located on ER,but the membrane toplogy of DHCR24 on ER and the functional significance of its FAD-binding domain are not completely understood.
