Epileptic seizures are well-known manifestations of systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE). It is also well documented that epileptics are at high risk from burn injuries during seizures . However, rarely have the cases of burns in patients with SLE been addressed in literatures. Additionally, references in the literature refer to limb amputation after burns usually occurring after high voltage electrical or major burns, secondary to extensive soft tissue destruction. There are few recorded cases of small burns resulting in
amputation. We describe a previously-unreported case of an SLE patient, suffering a small area deep burn during a seizure, who regretfully received an amputation of the hand.
