This paper at first briefly presents the situ observation results of evolution of different types of zonal disintegration. It is clear the situ observations that deformation and fracture of rock mass demonstrate different temporal evolution features in dependence of rock properties. Then the possibility of unified description of zonal disintegration in surrounding deep level tunnel rock mass is studied. The ratio K of the average distance between cracks to the average crack length is taken as additional parameter to describe the change of internal structure of rock mass.In dependence of the magnitude of parameter K the evolution equation derived from continuous phase transition theory may have different solutions corresponding to different types of zonal disintegration. Therefore continuous phase transition theory may describe different types of zonal disintegration very well.
