A long-term goal of our research is to reconstitute plant disease susceptibility through identification of a core set of host processes that are essential for pathogenesis.Current models for bacterial pathogenesis in plants are based primarily on host immune suppression.However, it is well known that plant diseases will not occur without favorable weather conditions even when highly susceptible plants encounter highly virulent pathogens.
