  Oxygen selective membranes have been explored with great interest as a technique to integrate distributed oxygen feeding and air separation for high-temperature reaction systems, such as reforming and partial oxidation of hydrocarbons to produce syngas.The high reaction temperature allows effective membrane oxygen transport without any additional energy requirement; moreover, the reducing atmosphere of the syngas compartment provides a large oxygen potential gradient increasing the oxygen flux through the membrane.
