Porous polymer microparticles have been widely applied in separation,analysis,catalysis and biomedical field due to its high specific surface area.Porous poly(ionic liquid)(PIL)particles with unique ionic structures have various properties due to its tunable ionic structures.Ionic structures of porous PIL particles can interact with other substances in manners of electrostatic interaction,hydrogen bonding,Van der Waals’force,etc.,which would broaden the application fields of porous polymer materials.Here,we synthesized porous PIL particles through a seeded emulsion polymerization method,using linear polystyrene particles as seeds,inert organic solvents as porogen,hydrophobic ionic liquids as monomers and a cross-linker with divinyl groups.After polymerization,the linear PS and porogen can be removed to form the porous structures.We investigated the influences of size and molecular weight of seed particles,type and ratio of porogen,monomer and crosslinker on the porous structure and porous property.
