18 kinds of poly chlorinated biphenyls congeners (PCBs) in soil samples under different agricultural land-use types (LUTs) from Taicang County in southern Jiangsu province were analyzed.Soil samples were collected from paddy fields (PF),commercial vegetable bases (VB),vegetable greenhouses (VS),individual vegetable fields (IVF),and a nature soil was collected from a natural forest without application of agriculture chemical as comparison (CK).The total concentration of PCBs (ΣPCBs) in soils ranged from ng kg-1 to μg kg-1,with the highest concentrations of PCB 13 8 and PCB 180.The ΣPCBs and congeners in agricultural soil was significantly higher than those in CK soil,while the concentration of dioxin-like PCBs congeners(ΣPCBdl) in agriculture soils are similar with those in CK soil.The ΣPCBs and congeners in soil could influence by different LUTs,with a relative concentration of PF>VB>VG>IVF.The distribution character of PCB congeners may reflect the source of pollutants,namely PCBs in paddy soil resulted from irrigation water,PCBs in kailyard soil came from atmosphere deposition and PCBs in green house soil originated from agrochemical utilization.
