Next-generation sequencing technologies are promising and revolutionising genomics and their effects are becoming increasingly widespread.The ability to detect hundreds of different types of markers in one experiment brings many benefits to the forensic scientists.We can obtain more information from unique samples in a single experiment,such as STRs,SNPs,indels,miRNA,whole mitochondrial,mRNA and methylation status.These information can be analyzed to provide more clues or proofs,including ancestry,phenotypic inference,body and tissue origin.Even for STR,the detailed sequence information can give more variety and aid mixture interpretation to some extent.
