Targeting no stalks type of iron arrowhead excavated in Yongho-ri, and stalks type of iron arrowhead excavated in Eungam-ri, Yeongi-gun, Chungcheongnam-do, this thesis aimed at considering aspects of corrosion depending on the types based on features of rust tubercle on the surface of remains and assuming the reasons why the rust tubercle were formed. The result of analyzing anions revealed that SO2-4 gushed out in the no stalks type excavated in Yonghori, and C1-in the stalks type excavated in Eungam-ri.According to the results of analyzing elements of the section and inner surface of rust tubercles on the iron arrowheads excavated in the two sites, a higher content of aluminum and silicon in addition to carbon was detected in the no stalks type than in the stalks type.According to the results of analyzing the section of the rust tubercles, it seemed that the rust tubercles on the iron arrowhead excavated in Yonghori and Eungam-ri were caused by the problematic layer with a high content of carbon under the surface. This problematic layer were formed by internal elements of the remains not by external effects including the environment where they were buried. Therefore, it is assumed that the rust tubercles on the two types of the iron arrowheads would be caused by intemal elements of the remains.Especially, it seems that the no stalks type is related to carbon, aluminum, and silicon, and that the stalks type is related to carbon. It was demonstrated that there was difference in colors and shapes since internal products of the rust tubercles on the two types of iron arrowheads. The results of XRD analysis indicated that the no stalks type had α-FeOOH,γ-FeOOH, and Fe3O4 and that the stalks type had FeCO3.Based on the above-stated results, the difference in the features of the rust tubercles on the no stalks type and the stalk type of iron arrowheads excavated from Yongho-ri and Eungam-ri can be presented as a factor with which features of manufacturing technique and the environments where they were buried can be evaluated.
