A two-lane cellular automaton model of traffic flow reflecting high speed car-following

  With the development of modem society, traffic congestion problems have attracted considerable attention by many fields of scholars [1-3].Based on the symmetric two-lane cellular automata model (STCA, for short) proposed by Chowdhury et al.[1], we propose a new two-lane traffie model in order to simulate traffic flow more realistically.First, the updating rules in the single-lane traffic are modified based on the NaSch model and the dynamic headway distance of successive vehicles is taken into account.Second the lane-changing rules are modified and a new model (R-STCA model, for short) is proposed, in which the security criterion is revised by taking into account the interval between the current vehicle and the succeeding vehicle on the target lane dynamically.
