It is very important to obtain uniform molecularly imprinted microspheres (MIMs) for HPLC and SPE applications.Up to now, the most common preparation methods for MIMs include suspension polymerization, surface-imprinting polymerization and precipitation polymerization and so on.Among those methods, the precipitation polymerization possesses some advantages of simple operation, without surfactant and stirring, etc.However, it is difficult to obtain big-size (>3 μm) MIMs for HPLC and SPE applications due to the limit of the synthesis method itself.In this study, three anti-human immune-deficiency virus (anti-HIV) drugs commonly used in clinic were utilized as the imprinting templates.The synthesis conditions using precipitation polymerization for achieving uniformed molecularly imprinted microspheres (MIMs) above 3 μm were investigated in detail.
