The safety and serviceability of reinforced concrete structures may be compromised because of their performance deterioration, leading to the increase in necessary maintenance costs.Research indicated that one of the major causes of the performance deterioration of concrete bridges is aggressive operation environments, for example because of the ingress of chlorides, which penetrate into the concrete cover and initiate chemical reactions leading to reinforcement corrosion. Therefore, due to reinforcement corrosion, accurate current condition assessment and future performance estimation on basis of stochastic deterioration modelling are essential to provide timely repair schedule and extend the safe service life of the reinforced concrete bridges (Chen and Xiao 2012; Orcesi and Frangopo12011).
