When using HIFU to ablate a tumor with large volume,numerous sonications are necessary to cover the whole treatment area in the traditional scanning method with single focus,because the focal size of ultrasound is relatively small compared with that of tumor.In the consideration of safety and efficiency,the treatment parameters including foci arrangement,sonication sequence,duration of each sonication,the intersonication cooling time,need to be effectively determined,which leads to a complex problem of planning.The present paper proposed a multiple-mode strategy to ease the complexity for the HIFU treatment of large tumor,in which fast scanning method was used to generate the basic element of treatment.
