Autonomic self-healing polymers can be made by incorporating fluidic healant-loaded vessels.Crack-induced breakage of the tiny containers leads to delivery of the healant into damaged regions and trigger of repair through polymerization of the healant. The method used to be applicable for thermosets or elastomers, but has not yet been employed in thermoplastic polymers.
