Objective: To compare the efficacy of preemptive of Etoricoxib and placebo in reduction of postoperative pain after BSSRO surgery under general anesthesia Methods: Eighteen patients scheduled undergoing orthognathic surgery (BSSRO) under general anesthesia at department of oral and maxillofacial surgery, Faculty of Dentistry Chiang Mai University, from september 2012 to february 2013 were included.They randomly allocated to received either oral 120 mg (n=9) or placebo (n=9) 3 hours before surgery.The patients pain intensity was assessed using a Numeric rating scale (NRS) at 6, 12, 18, and 24 hours after surgery.Total morphine consumption and occurrence of adverse effects of each group were recorded.
