With the enormous development of the society and improving peoples living standard, the people are paying more and more attention to the quality of the Chinese herbal medicine. And it is one of the important indexs of the quality of the Chinese herbal medicine that the content of 5 kinds of heavy metal and harmful elements(that are showed in the standard draft of heavy metals, pesticide and aflatoxin in traditional Chinese medicine what the National Pharmacopoeia Committee released, such as: As(Arsenic, less than 5 ug/g),Cd(Cadmium,less than 1 ug/g),Cu(Copper,less than 20 ug/g),Pb(Lead,less than 10 ug/g)and Hg(Mercury, less than 1 ug/g).)in Chinese medicinal herbs. In order to understand the content of 5 kinds of heavy metals and harmful elements and the quality of the Radix Pseudostellariae in Wudang District of Guiyang, the 9 samples of the Ridax pseudostellariae after collecting in the research district and pre-treatment,they were sent to ALS Laboratory Group and applied in Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectrometry(ICP-AES)and Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry(ICP-MS)to Determine the content of 5 kinds elements and analysised on it in this text. There are some results or conclusions as follows: 1)The average content of 5 kinds heavy metals and harmful elements of the Radix Pseudostellariae is under the limited value range of the standard in the heavy metals and harmful elements,it is generally conformed to quality requirements in the research area.Especially from the view to the content of Pb element, the study area the quality of Radix Pseudostellariae far higher than other planting bases of the Chinese herbal medicine like as Jiangsu and Xifeng Country in Guizhou.2)There is the average of 2.23 that the enrichment coefficient of Cd elements in the Radix Pseudostellariae in the research area,so the Radix Pseudostellariae is a little accumulation of Cd elements.3)There are some advices what might be appropriate to applying N fertilizer, organic fertilizer and calcium magnesium phosphate fertilizer in the planting soil to improve soil quality, thus reducing the accumulation of the Cd and As elements in Radix Pseudostellariae.Becauce the content Cd and As elements in Radix Pseudostellariae are little higher than the other planting bases Chinese herbal medicine.
