The FORMOSAT3/COSMIC RO retrieved ionospheric model is assessed for its bias by comparing with the OSSE simulated RO retrieved ionosphere using a theoretical ionosphere model derived from TIE-GCM.First,variances between the TIE-GCM model and an assimilated model derived combining the TIE-GCM Model with the FORMOSAT3/COSMIC RO retrieved data are obtained.The FORMOSAT 3/COSMIC RO retrieved data bias is defined as the calculated variance plus the differences between the OSSE RO retrieved data from the assimilated TIE-GCM model and the model itself.Using the FORMOSAT 3/COSMIC data on day 80 of 2007 as an example of illustration are compared with the ionosonde observation.We found the bias is most prominent at the bottomside below 200 km.
