Freezing and thawing of water inside rocks pores, cracks and joints is significant to physical rock weathering in the area where the temperature fluctuates below and above the freezing point of water, that is, 0℃.To understand frost wedging and rock shattering in cold regions, the artificial weathering was simulated in laboratory and the microstructure of rock specimens was analyzed as the test progressed.
