Herein we reported a highly sensitive fluorescent chemosensor based on 8-hydroxyquinolin derivative(KSN1) for Cd2+ and Zn2+ in aqueous media.An imaging study of Cd2+ in living cells is also successfully shown.The fluorescent sensors KSN1 was found to be sensitive to the Cd2+ and Zn2+ in aqueous media.In the investigated 15 metal ions such as Fe3+,Co2+,Ni2+,Hg2+,Ag+,Pb2+ and so on,only Cd2+ and Zn2+ can lead to the fluorescence enhancement to 10 times in aqueous and HEPES as the buffer solution in 7.0 pH.Therefore,KSN1 was the favorable in cognition of Cd2+ with high selectivity and sensitivity in aqueous solution.In addition,bioimaging studies demonstrated that it can detect Cd2+ in living kidney epithelial MDCK cells and lung cancer H 1299 cells.
