Malaria is the most common parasitic disease in the World.Plasmodium falciparum is the major cause of sever malaria and death and has developed resistance to most available antimalarial drugs.Artemisinin,isolated from the Artemisia annua L.,and its derivatives are effective antimalarial drugs against multidrug-resistant P.falciparum.The WHO has recommended artemisinin-based combination therapies (ACTs) as first-line treatment for uncomplicated Pfalciparum malarial since 2001.
