Bacterial and fungal denitrifications have been extensively studied in grassland,forest and arable soils and wetland sediment,but their magnitudes and relations to aboveand below-ground community parameters as well as nitrogen removals in constructed wetlands (CWs) have remained uncertain.We investigated the denitrifying capacities of bacteria and fungi and their contributions to total denitrification by using selective inhibitors in 30 vertical flow simulated wetlands (VFSWs) with three plant species richness levels (0,1 and 4 species per richness level,respectively).
