In this work,high performance membrane electrode assemblies (MEAs) with ultra low Pt loadings have been prepared by constructing multilayer structure electrodes with graded distribution of Pt contents.Using a novel catalyst coated membrane (CCM) approach,we constructed the multi catalyst layers on both anode and cathode sides with different Pt contents.To realize a maximal platinum utilizing efficiency,we sprayed a higher platinum contents out layer and a lower platinum contents interior layer closing membrane.It was found that such a multi layers MEA showed excellent perfomance working in hydrogen/air proton exchange membrane fuel cell(PEMFC) with an extra low platinum loadings.
