Objective: We aimed to assess the surgical outcome of sigmoid sinus wall reconstruction for pulsatile tinnitus (PT) caused by sigmoid sinus diverticulum (SSD).Methodology: This study was retrospectively undertaken in patients hospitalized in Department of otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery of Beijing Tongren Hospital between December 2008 and May 2012 with a chief complaint of PT.Twentyfive patients, who were diagnosed as SSD upon CTA and DSA findings and opted to undergo surgeries, were recruited.Preoperative data from medical records of patients were collected and evaluated. After surgeries of transmastoid sigmoid sinus wall reconstruction, patients received regular follow-ups for at least 6 months, including 13 cases returning to the clinic for evaluation and 12 cases with follow-ups by telephone.Postoperative changes of PT and complications were recorded.CTA and pure tone audiometry were performed in patients who returned to the clinic.
