Flavonoids exhibit a ample range of physiological properties, such as anti-allergenic, anti-artherogenic, anti-inflammatory, antinociceptive, anti-carcinogenic, anti-microbial, antioxidant, anti-thrombotic, cardioprotective and vasodilatory effects.Despite the apparent ubiquity of flavonoids, research has shown that each plant species only synthesizes a limited number of compounds, with the nature of these compounds varying between species and even from organ to organ within the same plant. The known flavonoids constitute only a diminutive portion of the anticipated total pool of flavonoids diversity.Cephalotaxus sinensis (Rehd et Wile) Li, belong to family Cephalotaxaceae and extensively disseminated in southern China. It is large sized, evergreen coniferous tree with dioecious flowers and drupe-like fruits with nut-seeds.It is an indigenous medicinal plant and used as a traditional Chinese medicine for treatment of dyspepsia, heiminthiasis, ascariasis, inflammation and cough.
