Introduction It has been shown earlier that the catalytic action of Pt nanoparticles supported on carbon nanofibers (CNF) for hydrogenation is significantly influenced by the amount of oxygen-containing groups present on the CNF surface. The catalytic activity increased with decreasing amount of groups on the CNF surface. These experiments were performed at 4.8 MPa and iso-propanol as solvent. Here we will show that this effect of oxygen groups diminishes when the catalysis is performed at low pressure 0.1 MPa in iso-propanol/water.
