Lactic acidis a most important industry product which has been widely used in food, chemical, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical. Besides, lactic acid can be used as a feedstock for the production of poly-lactic acid (PLA), which is a biodegradable, biocompatible and environmentally friendly biopolymer and can be used in surgical sutures, orthopedic implants,drug delivery systems, and disposable consumer products.
