Thirty college students underwent a 10 week systematic physical exercise program.Cerebral neurotransmitter levels were assessed using encephalofluctuograph technology to find changes to the characteristic cerebral neurotransmitter levels before and after physical exercise,to explore the mechanism by which physical exercise alters cerebral neurotransmitter levels,and to provide evidence supporting ties between physical exercise and psychological health.After the first physical exercise session,gamma aminobutyric acid and glutamic acid activities were significantly increased,5-hydroxytryptamine function was significantly decreased,dopamine and acetylcholine activities were also decreased,and acetylcholine receptor and norepinephrine activities,as well as the overall excitability of the cerebral cortex,were not significantly altered.These findings suggest that systematic physical exercise can alter participant cerebral neurotransmitter structure and function,contributing to enhancements in body energy and psychological health.
