3,4-Dihydropyrimidinones(DHPMs) constitute a very important class of organic compounds due to their attractive pharmacological properties,including antiviral,antitumour,antibacterial activities.1 They have emerged as integral backbones of several calcium channel blockers,antihypertensive agents,α-1 a-antagonists,and neuropeptide Y(NPY) antagonists 2.We would like to introduce a facile procedure for the synthesis of bis(dihydropyrimidinone)benzenes via one-pot condensation of terephthalic aldehyde or isophthalic aldehyde with(thio)urea,guanidine and 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds.
