Objective The importance of TGF-β1 in the fibrotic process of diabetic nephropathy (DN) has been confirmed by numerous studies.Blocking the TGF-β/Smad pathway is becoming a hopeful target for DN treatment.The current study investigated the potential effects of a DNA recombinant vaccine encoding TGF-β1 on renal injuries in type 2 diabetic OLETF rats.
