Adsorption technique is widely used to remove certain classes of pollutants from water, especially those that are not easily biodegradable.Dyes represent one of the problematic groups.Currently, a combination of biological treatment and adsorption on activated carbon are most commonly used techniques for the removal of dyes from wastewater. The low-cost sorbents have demonstrated their outstanding removal capabilities for certain dyes.In particular, polymers (natural and synthetic) might be a promising adsorbents for environmental and purification purposes.
