Issues:Australias policies on housing for the rapidly growing numbers of older people focus on encouraging them to stay in their own homes for as long as possible through providing an increasing range and number of community services.A move to residential aged care is expected when services are no longer adequate,but the evidence is this is not what the majority of older people want and that unsuitable housing contributes to premature and unnecessary moves to residential aged care.
