Background Glibenclamide has a newly discovered role in inflammation regulation besides its anti-diabetic effect. As an ATP-sensitive potassium (KATP)channel inhibitor, glibenclamide also antagonizes the relaxation of tracheal smooth muscle induced by KATP channel openers like pinacidil.Clinically, many diabetics with asthma are prescribed with glybenclamide to control blood glucose. However, it remains unknown whether these glybenelamide result in respiratory adverse effects like aggravating airway response.Herein, we will investigate whether glybenclamide has a promoting role in the development of allergic asthma.
