Methane can be converted to chemicals and fuels in two ways, either via synthesis gas or directly into C2-hydrocarbons or methanol.Today, almost all commercial processes for large scale natural gas conversion involve synthesis gas as an intermediate although other processes for converting methane also exist [1].Synthesis gas is converted to methanol, Fischer-Tropsch products etc.in large units. However, many applications such as offshore production could benefit from compact and modular conversion technology.Limitations in space and weight as well as demanding conditions on site, call for highly integrated, compact, light-weight and safe technology.Microstructured reactors have the potential to meet such requirements.Conversion of synthesis gas made from biomass, could be another area of interest for microstructured reactors.
