  The exploitation of small scale hydropower plants have been carried out by countries with the source.As one of the mainstream clean and renewable generation, small hydro are low initial and running cost, but vulnerable to water flow and should be deliberately controlled.If Rwanda exploits all its small scale hydropower sources at maximum efficiency, the electrical power generation capacity will increase and hence the number of population accessing electrical energy will also increase.The variable speed operation is a good solution to optimal exploitation of these small scale hydropower plants in Rwanda.
