  Due to so many subsea pipelines and cables within the offshore oilfield, standby ship mooring to a self-dropped anchor during idle time brings a potential safety threat to the subsea pipelines.Otherwise, the standby ship drifting during idle time consumes large amounts of fuel oils, which raises the expense of the oil production.So a mooring system installed to moor idle standby ships is an economic and safe solution.Taking an oilfield in Bohai Bay for example, this paper detailedly presents the method of engineering and installation of standby ship mooring system, which will provide good references for the similar project.
