According to the Statistics of the World Cancer Research Agency in 2008, the population of the newly diagnosed cancer cases worldwide reached 12.66 million, including2.81 million Chinese patients, which accounted for one-fifth of the worlds population.The cancer incidence rate in China is recorded as the highest among the incidence rates worldwide.Cancer deaths have reached 7.56 million, including 1.958 million Chinese patients that accounted for one-fourth of the total population.An increase in cancer incidence and mortality and a high demand of cancer patients and their families are the greatest challenges that we, Chinese oncology nurses, face.
