Molecular imprinting is a versatile and easy method to build selective recognition sites in a stable polymer matrix, and it is also an effective method for the preparation of selective sorbents. The molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) have prearranged structure, which exhibits a high affinity and selectivity toward a particular target compound named template. The MIPs have been used as a selective SPE material to separate or clean up the target compounds in low concentrations and in complex matrix. The good results were obtained thanks to the selective recognition of specific analytes or group of structural analogues.
