Gerbera hybrida is a popular ornamental plant, but also an ideal model species due to the rich coloration of its flowers and its complex organ growth and development.Anthocyanin accumulation is important for color generation in petals, but relatively few of the genes involved have been characterized in G.hybrida.Here, we report an R2R3-MYB protein, GhMYBla, which is highly related to a previously reported transcription factor, GhMYB1.
