The development of a direct synthesis method for hydrogen peroxide production on site in desirable concentrations is of significant interest since it is a key selective oxidant in fine chemical industry. However, direct hydrogenation of molecular oxygen is challenging for the development of the catalyst having high selectivity to desired peroxide, because conditions suitable for the synthesis of H2O2 are the same leading to its dissociation or to a non-selective formation of H2O.Hutchings and co-workers have found that PdAu alloys show enhanced activity compared to the traditionally employed Pd catalyst [1].
