The viral response to host defenses is a key step that determines the outcome of infection and pathogenesis.Although this process has been extensively studied in a number of viruses, less is known about Ebola virus that causes severe hemorrhagic fever in humans.Accumulating evidence suggests that Ebola virus inhibits innate immune responses.Notably, Ebola virus infection efficiently blocks dsRNA-mediated interferon production in macrophages, peripheral blood mononuclear cells and dendritic cells.
