Carotenoids are a class of ubiquitous isoprenoid pigments involved in plant photoprotection and human health-protection.The phytoene synthase gene (PSY), the regulated rate-limiting enzymes, plays a key role in plant carotenoid biosynthesis.However, the transcriptional regulation and posttranscriptional regulation of PSY gene in citrus remain to be elucidated.In this study, quantitative RT-PCR analysis of carotenoid-related genes reported in literature was performed at different developmental stages of sweet orange.
