The stall-incidence of the airfoil is an important parameter for the characteristics of aerodynamics, and large-scale flow separation of the static stall on the airfoil surface could cause sharp drop of lift coefficient and sudden increase of drag coefficient.But this phenomenon can be delayed effectively by the dynamic stall caused by the unsteady motion.Therefore, dynamic stall incidence of the airfoil can increase lift and reduce drag significantly.As an unsteady aerodynamic behavior of high angle of attack, there exists a rich variety of nonlinear phenomena, which should be investigated from viewpoint of nonlinear dynamics.An explicit characteristic based split scheme (CBS) is presented in the study to approach incompressible Navier-Stokes equations without turbulent model.The flows around a stationary and a sinusoidally pitching airfoil are carried out to simulate static stall and dynamic stall behavior, respectively.Moreover, the natures of the static stall of airfoil are studied based on bifurcation theories.
