Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the most common chronic liver disease that is characterized by excess triglyceride (TG) accumulation in the absence of excessive alcohol intake.This disease can progress to inflammatory nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), fibrosis, cirrhosis,and endstage liver injury in humans.The validated treatment in NASH is to reduce progression to advanced fibrosis, cirrhosis, and its sequelae.However, the optimal treatment remains uncertain.The fiver plays an important role in the metabolism of many elements, including metals, which are mandatory for the function of biological systems.However, the linkage and interplay between metal elements and steatosis in liver tissue is not clarified and is the subject of this study.
