  Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has been widely used in China for thousands of years.Drugs from marine sources are an important part of TCM, and are gaining popularity in recent years.A number of active components were found in various marine drug organisms.However, the research on quality control method of marine animal drugs was scarce, and the marker components for almost all marine animal drugs were not clear still.Nucleosides, nucleobases, and their analogs were known for their pharmacological properties such as anti-tumor and anti-viral activities.Adenine, hypoxanthine, adenosine, and cordycepin were found to be the active components of Cordyceps.Also, Nucleosides in natural medicines were usually selected as quality control components.
